Rabarber-meloen lemonade

Discover the refreshing secret to your summer drinks: this rhubarb and melon lemonade from Nicolas Vahé is stylish, surprising, and super easy. Perfect for an afternoon in the garden or on the balcony!

Rhubarb-melon lemonade

This rhubarb-melon lemonade is a refreshing drink for warm days, brunch, or a quiet moment in between. The flavor should stay bright: plenty of freshness, not too sweet, and easy to make without any bar tools.

Use the ingredients below as a base and taste at the end. That way, you can make the drink a little fresher, softer, or fuller without making the recipe complicated.

The magic of homemade lemonade

Making lemonade yourself is super easy and gives so much more flavor than anything from a bottle. You choose the ingredients, decide on the balance, and add that personal twist – exactly what a calm, homely atmosphere is all about. The combination of fresh rhubarb and juicy melon creates a subtly sweet base, while lemon wonderfully brightens everything up.

Ingredients for rhubarb-melon lemonade

  • 400 g watermelon, cut into cubes
  • 350 g rhubarb, cut into pieces
  • 200 ml water
  • 100 ml fresh lemon juice
  • 60–80 g sugar (to taste)
  • Fresh ice cubes
  • Optional: fresh mint or slices of lemon for the finishing touch

How to make it: step by step

  1. Put the rhubarb together with the water and sugar in a saucepan. Bring to the boil and let it simmer gently until the rhubarb is soft (about 10 min).
  2. Blend the watermelon into juice and strain through a fine sieve.
  3. Strain the rhubarb mixture as well. Catch the clear liquid and mix it with the watermelon juice and lemon juice.
  4. Let everything cool completely in the refrigerator.
  5. Serve with plenty of ice, a sprig of mint and – if you like – some extra lemon slices.
