culinary: the simplicity and luxury of Nicolas Vahé

Anyone who loves refined presentation knows that less is more in the kitchen too. Nicolas Vahé understands that better than anyone. By working with pure, distinctive flavours, surprise is created on your plate – and this pizza is no exception. The subtle interplay between confit, fine oil and freshly ground pepper creates that signature Nordic flair. Choosing Nicolas Vahé products means no standard weeknight dinner, but a true flavour experience.

The recipe: pizza with confit

For this recipe, we’re using a thin, crispy base, a surprising topping of Nicolas Vahé confit, and a few beautiful accents from the Het Adres collection. Ready to get started? Here’s what you need:

  • 1 thin pizza base (homemade or store-bought)
  • 1-2 tablespoons Nicolas Vahé confit (such as fig or onion confit)
  • 100 g soft goat’s cheese or burrata
  • A handful of rocket
  • A few slices of cured ham or prosciutto (optional)
  • 1 tbsp walnut oil
  • Freshly ground green pepper from Nicolas Vahé
  • Optional: nuts, such as walnuts or pecans

How to make it:

  1. Preheat the oven to 220 °C (or as hot as possible).
  2. Place the pizza base on baking paper on a baking tray.
  3. Spread a thin layer of confit over the base.
  4. Scatter the cheese in generous pieces over the confit.
  5. Add the slices of ham, if using.
  6. Bake the pizza for 8-10 minutes until the base is golden brown and the cheese is soft and melty.
  7. Remove from the oven, drizzle with walnut oil and sprinkle generously with green pepper.
  8. Finish with rocket and, if desired, a few pieces of nuts.

Tip: Serving suggestion! This pizza is excellent as a snack, lunch, or a luxurious starter for a dinner with friends.

Why this pizza is a treat

  • Rich flavour: Nicolas Vahé confit is rich, lightly sweet and full of character – the perfect base for a surprising pizza.
  • Walnut oil: Subtly nutty, elegant and a touch decadent. Walnut oil brings the flavours together harmoniously.
  • Green pepper: The organic green pepper mill adds a rounded, gentle heat that makes this pizza a true showstopper.

Perfect pairing: drinks that go with it

Easy serving isn’t complete without a suitable wine or a refreshing alternative:

  • A crisp white wine, such as a Grüner Veltliner
  • Lightly chilled rosé
  • For non-drinkers: a sparkling lemonade with lemon and mint

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I replace the confit with something else?
Yes, for example with a chutney or a compote of caramelised onion, but confit does give it that unique Nicolas Vahé touch.
  • Do I have to use a homemade base?
No, a good ready-made thin pizza base works perfectly too. Of course, making your own is always fine!
  • How long does the confit stay good after opening?
After opening, the confit will usually keep for several weeks in the fridge. Always check the label for the exact shelf life.
